Description
Located at the bottom of a canyon on the north side of Ledges State Park near Boone, Iowa, this low-lying land often becomes a wetlands as a result of extensive spring and summer rains and the flooding of the nearby Des Moines River. The result is a swampy marsh, reminiscent of some areas in the deep south but quite an anomaly in the farm country of the Midwest.
