A view up Amsterdam Avenue late on a summer afternoon. The graffiti tag "Noyz" was the work of a young artist in our neighborhood, now studying in Chicago. He came upon this painting unexpectedly in an NYC art show and was pretty tickled to find himself immortalized, as it were, in paint on canvas. And I was pretty tickled to meet him.

Peter Salwen's light-filled urban landscapes are in collections across the U.S., Europe and South America. Salwen's paintings, he says "try to express the deep pleasure to be found in something as simple as sunlight on a wall or the ordinary traffic of people and machinery at city street corner.
