Every day I have several beautiufl little Nuthatch birds visit my bird feeder. They are a small bird with a unique shape and clean black, gray, and white markings. This is a White-breasted Nuthatch. These little birds have a big appetite for insects and large, meaty seeds. They seem to really love the Sunflower seeds that I pour into my feeders every day. The name "Nuthatch" comes from their unique 'table manners.' They take the seeds from the feeder and then bang them against the feeder or a near-by tree to break open the seed to eat. They use their sharp bills to �hatch� out the seed from the inside. Although small in size, they make their presence known with their loud voices, which could be considered annoying very early on summer mornings when our windows are open, but they are so cute! . . . .
