Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. I love this metal print. The picture is crisp and colors are clear. We live in the Detroit area and my husband used to sell vegetables at Ester Market when he was in college.
Artist's Description
This was my very first time on a chair lift. I didn't think much about it on the way up the mountain at the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park. On the way up, I didn't feel that far off the ground. It was a different story on the way back down. Instead of looking into the hillside, we were looking out over the Smokys and the Ober Gatlinburg Resort. Then I started looking at the towers and the single cable our chair was attached to. That sheave has such a small lip on it...that cable seems pretty small for the number of chairs attached to it...just take a deep breath and enjoy the view. The view is almost enough to distract me from my sheave fixation, but I will do it again.
The Gatlinburg Ski Resort opened in 1961. The tramway from Gatlinburg to the resort opened in 1973. In 1975 it became the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort. I would definitely recommend riding the tram up from Gatlinburg and then taking the chairlift to the top.
About Mark Bowmer
I was born and raised in Belfair Washington. While growing up, I spent most of my time in the woods, hiking, hunting and just wandering around. On those trips, I had a little 35mm point and shoot. Work moved me to Kentucky in 2006. This year my wife upgraded my little 35mm to a Nikon D7000. I would like to focus my photography on getting the view that people seldom see. Everybody knows what it looks like from the road, I want to do the hike and capture the view from 8 miles in.
