Although the formatting of this site will not allow me to classify this very large hand painted, gold leafed, carved wood sculpture with three sides and portals as: an oil painting, a mixed media, and sculpture, it is in fact all three. The Crystal Cave Stabile Objet d'art was 20 years in the making, it features three different original oil paintings, one on each of the three sided 3-D carved wooden panels which were first gold leafed over 12 coats of Red out-door acrylic. The stabile has a 11ft. in diameter rosewood motorized carousel that makes i revolution per minute. It weighs over 1,500 pounds and takes a crew of 5 strong helpers to put up in any installation or display. This is one of 5 completed stabiles of my intended 12 stabiles which are all in various stages of development. Some are large like the Crystal Cave while others are table top sized. They are all a labor of love and I'm not in any hurry to part with them either. When and if they go to any permanent collection it will be for a respectable price. The final installation will include a laser light show by transmitting the laser through a series of lenses and gemstones already mounted within or on the stabile in strategic locations.

Whoa.. that title's quite a mouthfull.. but the painting is beautiful..
