Many years ago, my uncle Thomas (Tom) Phillip Hufford asked me to come up with a word the opposite of predator. Amitor is that word. Ami: Fr. friend, Amigo: Sp. friend, Amity: Eng. harmony, Ami: Formosa, Taiwan. Giraffe: non predatory animal unless young attacked. Butterflies: live, love, laugh, hope. Survive, thrive and inspire others. Pen Sherwood offered to do this Amtor artwork for free sharing the copyright with me for my Amitor concept. Amitor Tom would be so proud. Diana Hays Kisselburg

Artist's Description

Old Growth Forest at Lost Lake on Mount Hood. A tranquil vertical composition of a fallen old-growth fir tree, its trunk serving as a path into the depths of the green forest. The light is mixed deep shade and bright shade, with green the predominant color. Verdant foliage frames the tree trunk as it leads the eye into the frame. One can almost imagine a fairy tale woodland creature to appear farther down the tree trunk. Lost Lake is a resort and campground not far from Hood River, Oregon, located near Mt. Hood. Mt. Hood is a volcanic peak in the Cascade Range, about fifty miles from the large Oregon city of Portland. It resides within the Mt. Hood National Forest. Now considered dormant, Mt. Hood last erupted (albeit in a minor way) in August of 1907. There are volcanic vents on the mountain which still emit volcanic gases. Of all of the very many volcanoes in Oregon, it is considered the one most likely to again erupt. See my many other photos of Mount Hood, and scenics from all...
