OLD NICE is a photograph by Carla Parris from her travels in France.
The old town of Nice (Vieux Nice) is a maze of streets with picturesque houses and buildings in yellow, ocher, and pink, most of them hundreds of years old. It is several blocks inland from the Promenade des Anglais, the seafront walk along the Mediterranean.
This colorful neighborhood has shops, galleries, and restaurants nestled among its stacked medieval buildings, many of which are decorated with balconies, shutters, ornate ironwork, flower-filled window boxes, and laundry.
Old Nice is the site of the Cours Saleya daily flower and fruit market. There are numerous cafes and restaurants selling regional specialties, like seafood and salade Nicise, as well as inviting shops selling Provencal goods.
