A photographer friend of mine, Jason Drake Photography (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jason-Drake-Photography/159764670710388) took a gorgeous photo of a steam engine that inspired this painting. Please visit his original photo, which I used as my inspiration albeit his photo looks quite a bit different. The painting itself is hand painted using digital methods.

Why digital and not "real"? I am a "green" artist. I had my share of oil and tempera (my favorite mediums) for a number of years in my youth but as my children were born I realized how much toxic materials I am working with! I now paint nearly exclusively digitally. The effect is nearly the same without harming the environment as intensely as oil paint does. I also prefer to not kill trees if I don't have to. I hope you agree that art remains art regardless if digital or oil on canvas or paper.
