I love dragonflies. I can watch them for hours as they hunt in large numbers on hot summer days. They often get very close, darting to and fro and I can hear their powerful mandibles as they snatch insects in mid air. When a dragonfly chooses to alight next to me for a well-deserved rest, I stare in awe at their amazing colors and how the light plays upon their nearly transparent gossamer wings. In this painting I captured the dragonflies flying over a fantasy pond as their offspring (nymphs) hatch out of the water.
The original painting is sold to a private collector.
