This Red Fox vixen was patrolling the beach for mole crabs and discarded bait. She was obviously nursing kits.
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

A beautiful photograph. I've only seen two or three foxes in the wild and I can still remember each scene like it just happened. I love the lighting and the feeling of this photograph as some archival treasure...which it is! f/v

I have wonderful memories of the foxes on Island Beach State Park, especially the day when a hungry Mom jumped into the back of our pickup truck and stole our bait. She was right next to me. Another time pone came face-to-face with another and they faced off, all puffed out, backs arched, tails up - just like Halloween cats - LOL. No fight, just a stand off. We have a pair in our woods and catch glimpses of them as they hunt - too far to photograph, though. Beautiful animals!! Thank you for the V/F and wonderful comment:>)

I do love foxes (alien implants or not!) and find them extremely intelligent and cat-like (Yes, cat-like). The last time we were fishing there were two females looking for food. One obviously intruded on the other's territory because the offended party fluffed up every hair, arched her back and crooked her tail like a Halloween cat, and did the little bounce step. Quite a sight:>) They have the most lovely and expressive golden eyes. These fox know enough to dig at the wave line for mole crabs. Thanks, Bob!
