Oh, my gosh! This looks just like my classroom did when I was about 7 and we had "air raid warning practice" and we had to file to the cloakroom and neal beneath the coats. great! V/F

Lois Bryan replied:

Dearest Phyllis, thank you so very much!!! Yes mine weren't far off from this either, though we did not have the wood stove!! And though I don't remember a stool with a dunce cap, my next door neighbor told stories of having to sit on one, with a cap, when she was in school, and she was only 5 years ahead of me!!! Whew!!! Looks like I barely escaped that one!! : )) So glad you enjoyed the image ... it's one of my personal favorites!!!

Lois Bryan replied:

And oh by the way, I remember those air raid warning drills too ... only we had to crawl under our desks!!! Oh the nightmares of those days!!!!

absolutely charming scene, masterfully finished… and so many other gems in your gallery too! L/F

Lois Bryan replied:

Thank you, Thomas ... honored that you enjoyed this one!!

Love your old classroom. I spent my first eight years of school in one much like this. Your Photoshop work really enhanced the essence of times past.

It was a gift with a picture taken in the 1940's. They loved it and it was processed and received in a speedy manner. I will order a gift like this again.

About Lois Bryan

Welcome to Lois Bryan Photography and Digital Art. I'm a photographer and digital artist living in the mid-Atlantic area of the US. My photography and photo-based works are based on my own images, unless otherwise specifically mentioned and credited. In so far as artistic processing goes, the photographer and "artist" in me are frequently at war, so that although my goal will always be to catch that perfect shot straight out of the camera, I really do love exploring the artistic and creative process. Often, the image itself will tell me what it wants, and I do my best to comply. I work with Photoshop and other image editing programs on my photos to the degree that in the end the original photo may not even be recognizable. More...
