In late 2007, I began a series of 'asymmetry' mandalas. I mostly created them by drawing in the moment, with little, if any, forethought. This mandala started with drawing the upper circle, then the lower circle, From there, I drew lines that, for the most part, followed the contours of the two circles.
When it came time to color it, I started with the upper circle and colored it as a fire ball. It felt like the sun to me. So then my logical brain took over and said 'well then the other circle should be the moon', which I proceeded to do. The rest of the coloring is blur to me. Once I started coloring, the coloring took over. After two hours this became the end result.
It looks and feels like Oregon to me. And with having the moon in the body of water, it most certainly has to be "Crater Lake" ... my subconscious has a sense of humor :-)
