Artist's Description

This black necked stilt pecked the immature American white ibis to try to get it to move to get more feeding space. The birds were flocking to this drying pond in Ruskin, Florida to take advantage of the conditions. Theblack-necked stilt(himantopus mexicanus) is a shorebird of American wetlands and coastlines. It can be found in the coastal areas of California, through much of the interior western United States, along the Gulf of Mexico to Florida, south through Central Americaand the Caribbean, to northwest Brazil, southwest Peru, eastern Ecuador and the Gallapagos Islands. Look for it in estuarys, salt ponds, emergent wetlands, and seasonally flooded wetlands. Himantopus mexicanus forages by probing in mudflats, lakeshores, and in the shallow waters of coastlines searching for the crustaceans, insects, mollusks, small fish, and tadpoles that make up the bulk of its diet. It also eats plant seeds, but very rarely.

Benjamin Harrison in 1966 where I got more intensive training in photography and photojournalism and practiced that craft in Vietnam and the United States. I studied with the Famous Artists and Famous Photographers Schools to help hone my skills. I study the composition, use of light, contrasts of intensities of color, etc. of artists works that I catch my eyes to help me hone my skills. I...
