Description
This vulture is descending out of the Kettle to join the wake for the 1 pm feeding at the Victoria Falls Safari Lounge, Zimbabwe. Fun fact: the name for a group of vultures changes depending on where they are. In flight they are a kettle, perched in a tree a committee, and while feeding the group is referred to as a wake.
The 1 pm feeding is a show put on for the benefit of many. The most obvious are the guests at the lodge who enjoy this unique close-up view. Of course the vultures seem to enjoy it the most but the Boma Restaurant benefits from easy disposal of the previous nights scraps from the bush meat barbeque. But the greatest benefit of all is to the eco-systyem of the park which is cleaned up on a regular basis by the birds that go away still hungry.
