The woman in the center with a serene look in her face to show that she has no fear of dead. Although, the arrow in her heart may bring blood and pain, what is to follow will be the opposite. She is aware and welcoming towards whatever the female serpent might inflict on her. The arrow in her heart does not signify a religious implication, nor does her being tied to a piece of wood. She just enjoys the serpent doings. One way to look at the painting and see a violent scene but the painting represents the opposite, the extraction of evil to gain happiness.
