THE SILVER BUTTERFLY AND A GHOST OF A CHANCE
Between and around these painted shadows
of a different love and time,
a silver butterfly slowly glides
through corridors of a drifting mind.
A broken promise burns brazenly red.
Our ghost of a chance sits humming songs blue.
Green recalls too often taking its pride too seriously,
while everything gold still adores-- everything about you.

The above lines are included here because poetry on one level or another informs and inspires almost everything I do. However, those who are more interested in technical background information on this artwork are invited to read my ArtNotes blog entry on it. What I will share in this space regarding the butterfly is that it landed on a sidewalk in front of me as I was taking a hike through a southern U.S. city. It kept relatively still and modeled long enough for me to photograph and mentally sketch it from several different angles.
