Description
Painting entitled Above Baikonur". This depicts the Salyut 6 space station, with two Soyuz spacecraft docked, in orbit over the Baikonur area in Kazakhstan. The large body of water is the Aral Sea. The painting was taken into orbit by the Soviet/Czech crew of Soyuz 28 (2 March 1978), and was returned by the Soviet/Polish crew of Soyuz 30 (4 July 1978). The painting has been signed by cosmonauts W.Kovalyonok, A.Ivanchenkov, P.Klimuk and M.Hermaszewski: the stamps of the Soviet and Polish space authorities appear at the bottom. The painting was sent to Salyut so that the crews could make corrections for the artist."
