Palmyra was an ancient oasis city in the Syrian desert and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This photo was taken in the spring of 2010, a year before the start of the civil war in Syria. This temple, a tetrapylon had been mostly restored before the war and ISIL destruction of important ruins at the site.
