Artist's Description
On a clear day, the view from Steptoe Butte State Park in eastern Washington state is spectacular. Rolling hills stretch in every direction. The soil is fertile and the fields, planted and fallow, create a beautiful patchwork of greens and browns punctuated occasionally by farm buildings and clusters of trees. In the late afternoon, patches of light and shadow multiply the patterns.

Beautiful capture, Nikki! The image has such a wonderful graphic quality. Do you know if the bright yellow is canola?
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Priscilla. No, the brighter yellow is not canola. A few canola fields were blooming further west, but not yet in this part of the country - we looked, believe me :)
Felicia Tica
Wonderful as a painting! L
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Honestly, Felicia, this entire area looks like a painting! And that's how I felt when we drove through the northern part of your beautiful country in 1986. I kept saying, "It's like being in a postcard or an illustration for Heidi!"
David and Carol Kelly
