Description
Taken at Weindorfer's Forest in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania.
Pandani is found only in Tasmania and is the largest heath plant in the world. Although it resembles its namesake, the pandanus palm of tropical and South-East Asia, the pandani is in no way related to it.
In Tasmania pandanis are found in subalpine plant communities. The long, sharp-edged leaves on their trunk provide insulation.

Question...is it Pandini or Pandani? You have it both ways in your details. Either way, it's of the palm variety so I am already a huge fan. We didn't have this type of plant on the U.S. east coast nor are they part of the local vegetation here in northern Utah. :)
Elaine Teague replied:
It's Pandani Len and thanks for bringing that to my attention. Must now now change the title. Pandani is only found in Tasmania, so you won't find it anywhere in the U.S.
