Artist's Description
The climax of the last four stages of the progress of this journey come to an end with the final panel called Devitrification. This is a term use in glass kiln and hot glass work when the glass becomes devitrified through over annealing at a certain temperature. Around 710 degrees Celsius the glass is kept at this temperature. It changes the form from glass to become on.cooling another substance that is not stable like glass but almost like crushed sandy crystal particles. I wanted to show what happens to the rainforest when it ends up in the sea. Although this glass has rainforest remnants and newspaper in-between the glass, we cannot see it anymore. It is not evident and becomes like an element that breaks apart in time and melts into the environment i.e. the message in the bottle is now not identifiable
I have left the gap apart to view the glass inside. It is like looking a crack in a rock face and finding crystals.
