Description
I made this image of this Louisiana State Capitol on a crisp November morning of 2014. Having left Houston at 4:20 AM, I arrived in Baton Rouge at around 11:00; seeing this tall skyscraper from the interstate, I decided to go into town to photograph its majestic architecture and the gardens surrounding it. The 34-story tall building measures 450 ft, featuring classicasl design with Art Deco details. It was Huey Pierce Long's idea for the state to construct a new building for the statehouse in 1928 when he was running for Governor of the State of Louisiana. By 1932 the building was finished and the dedication was coordinated with the inauguration of Oscar K. Allen as Governor. The ironic thing is that Mr. Long couldn't be present since he had been elected to the Senate and was in Washington DC. Thanks for looking. FAA watermark WILL NOT show up on final printed image.
