Fabulous, love the story of this piece!! F/V

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought, romance in Paris...how perfect. Opening up the larger image sort of put the end to that! Oh well, I guess it's just the age we live in. Great capture that says a lot about life. f/v

Mary Machare replied:

Later I thought they might perhaps have been planning a romantic get-away using the phone.

LOL... I like your comment about looking into eyes and now texting... Isn't that the truth. :-) Awesome shot Mary... I like your style of photography. FV :-)

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Kume.

I'd also like to take a moment to comment on the irony of the photo, so artistic yet so indicative of crass modern culture, but I have to take a look at this message coming in to my own phone - - - will get back to you soon!

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Steve.

Well--I have too much to say about the subject of texting to say anything at all! It is a great capture--your photos tell stories--voted!

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Nava Jo!

Mary, I just love this analogy, in your statement about looking at one another, and actually participating in a face to face conversation, and now they text. What else could one do while texting? It certainly can't replace true relationships! Love this delightful capture, Mary, and very typical of today's challenges. fave and vote

Thank you, Randy, for your comments and support.

Mary, I was intrigued by this one, and I find it not only a nice presentation of an urban scene, but also an interesting social commentary on society today. I have often wondered myself about how the communication skills of the younger generation are being affected by electronic devices, when they seem better able to communicate on a screen than in person. Interesting and thought-provoking capture! Voted and my selection the Pay it Forward Discussion of Wisconsin Flowers & Scenery. v

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you so much, Cheri. I think young people often miss out on old fashioned romance... perhaps they don't even know what they are missing!

When I first looked at this image, I imagined the man was pulling out a ring to present to his sweetheart... but, alas, a cell phone! Funny image actually as it speaks of today's culture and while the couple look to be romantic (with her arm on his shoulder), he is talking or texting to a third person! It actually turns out to be a thought-provoking capture as we contemplate what might actually be going on! Nice processing! V/F +++Blessings+++

Mary Machare replied:

Yes, the cell phone and technology have managed to take away romantic moments... whatever happened to lovers gazing in each others' eyes? Now they gaze at an electronic display.

Wonderful image - love the composition - well done - voted & faved

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Alexandra!

Love the artsy look of the chair shapes and the presentation of this image Mary! We Voted! Celebrate life, Debra and Dave

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Debra and Dave. Those chairs are everywhere... wish I could have brought some home.

Yes, the texting bit is a sad statement of present society and yet you have still captured an intimate (for today) moment in an urban setting and I like the posterized treatment that blocks the color. v/f

Mary Machare replied:

Thank you, Li.
