"Park Guell Barcelona Photo Session" by Mona Edulesco.
Original watercolor painting on a high quality 300 g/m - 140lb Acid Free Arches watercolor paper 29x42 cm (11x16 in), 2018.
This painting depicts three friends sitting on Gaudi's serpentine bench and looking at the photos they recently captured... :)
Inspired by my recent trip to Barcelona, earlier this summer.
The Park Güell is a public park system composed of gardens and architectonic elements located in Barcelona, Spain and built between 1900 and 1914.
Park Güell is the reflection of Antoni Gaudí's artistic plenitude, which belongs to his naturalist phase (first decade of the 20th century). During this period, the architect perfected his personal style through inspiration from organic shapes. He put into practice a series of new structural solutions rooted in the analysis of geometry. To that, the Catalan artist adds creative liberty and an imaginative, ornamental creation. Starting from a sort of baroquism, his works acquire a structural richness of forms and volumes, free of the rational rigidity or any sort of classic premises. In the design of Park Güell, Gaudí unleashed all his architectonic genius and put to practice much of his innovative structural solutions that would become the symbol of his organic style and that would culminate in the creation of Sagrada Familia.
The undulation bench created by Antoni Gaudi is definitely one of the most widely admired elements in the Park Guell. Overlooking the city below, this sinuous bench is clad in ceramic tiles. A mix of sculpture, functionality and surface design, considered one of the great works of art of the 20th century.
