Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
Let me add to what I wrote here 18 months ago, Becca. The background looks wonderful to me, in itself as well as setting off the "pieces." Now this is the kind of thing I was talking about under the "Bursting Jazz" painting. If the "sections" here were cut out. What I mean, rather, is have a nifty background, as the one here and the pieces could be attached variosly on it orand around it. And there could be lots of pieces, and painted as some spirit, or some strong spirits, moves one. They wouldn't all have to be used on on the same wall, even the same room A number of backgrounds could be made, too, and various shapes and sizes. Finally, I want to suggest that such things could be wonderful of children, It would provide, as for some imaginative and playful adults, a bunch of raw materials to arrange even a few in thousands of ways! What a healthy educational activity, I would think. And games could be created probably. Do you have any kids, Becca. Well, I didn't mean to get personal. I just wondered about your experiences with kids and art and if you think they would like to spend (quiet?) time like this? Well, that's enough -- maybe too much. I have been away from art for quite a while and am just getting back. I had a lot of lung infections, and complications, like lost balance, and soon clinical depression! Several months ago my wife and I split up, as we should have about 15 years or more ago. Now, here's the punch line of all this. As soon as I began living alone my health took giant steps forward, and still is, and I've started painting, I think better than for a long time. So. Hope all's well with you and yours, Becca, Let me just add that I find most all of your works interesting. Peace, etc., Bruce
