The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust exists to protect Africa's wildlife and habitats, including the iconic African Elephant. At the heart of its conservation activities is the pioneering Orphans Project, which hand-rears orphaned infant elephants and rhinos back into the wild. The project offers hope for the future of Kenya's elephant and rhino populations who are under threat from poaching and to date the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has successfully hand-raised and reintegrated over 160 infant elephants back into the wild, many of whom have gone on to have their own wild born young.
