Description
Nelly and Frosty, corralled while moving them between pastures, enjoyed the this beautiful day in southeastern Idaho. They greeted me with contented looks, and I snapped a nice photograph that became the basis for this painting. Having a mule while growing up, I love the cleverness and expressiveness of these wonderful pets and wanted to paint something to remind me of my childhood friend. The sun-splashed aspen glowed in the background. Nellie's sorrel face was vibrant against the shadows on her neck; her mule ears look like the peace sign given to the world for his lovely day. Frosty, a sweet little white horse, contrasted the dark shadows and groomed appearance of the mule. Turns out Nellie loved Frosty. The owner cried when she received the painting as she no longer has Frosty. The original is 28" x 24" and hangs in the private collection of the owners of these lovely animals. The image looks nice in the vertical orientation for cards and iPhone cases. This digital image is lower resolution than needed for larger painting or poster sizes, therefore it is only available (for now) as a smaller print.

Many thanks for participation in contest Homeless animals which I sheltered! Doesn't matter how many votes your image received. Sense of contest absolutely in other: to draw attention to a problem of homeless animals and to show positive examples of participation in destiny of animals. Thank you for your kind heart!
