Peregrine Falcon Tashunka by Christina Rollo. Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) against blue background. The Peregrine Falcon, also known as the Peregrine, or Duck Hawk in North America, is a widespread bird of prey. It's a large, crow-sized falcon with a blue-grey back, barred white underparts, and a black head and mustache. Its diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized birds but the Peregrine will occasionally hunt small mammals, reptiles, or insects.
