Artist's Description

"Picture City" is an homage to Hobe Sound rich history. During the land boom of the 1920s, elaborate plans were announced for Hobe Sound to create a town, in Greek style, where motion pictures could be produced. For a brief time Hobe Sound was renamed "Picture City". The boom collapsed after the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane and the original name was restored. In October 1925, the Olympia School opened now known as the Apollo School. Street names remained, as did the cement streetlights along Dixie Highway, the Texaco station and the old train station now relocated west of Hobe Sound. Also on this picture the old post office, the water tower, St Christopher, Bridge road, the bridge to Harbor Island and the Hobe Sound Bridge.

As her tastes evolved towards contemporary art, she has gradually moved away from figurative painting to a style between realism and abstraction. Her form of abstraction is not disconnected from nature but reflects its imperfect beauty. Her inspiration comes from the organic world.
