OK, you've inspired me... again. I dug out a 2004 photo of San Antonio and dressed it up. I'll post it within the hour, and will look around for other older NM (and/or west Texas) photos.

Oh, I was there! Traveling around Southern New Mexico and places like Weed and Claunch and finding wonderful REAL food and wonderful REAL people and wonderful REAL scenes to photograph. I'm loving your gallery and reading your memories!

Get OUT! :-D How cool! Isn't it just the NEATEST place? You've described it perfectly! Awhile back (looking at the date, I see it was exactly a year ago tomorrow, actually) I wrote a couple of pieces about Pie Town you might enjoy. I abandoned the blog not long after that, but my posts DO have some lovely Russell Lee photos of Pie Town you might appreciate, as well as some of my own. Oops -- make that article publication TWO years ago. Hmmm. Wonder what happened to 2012. LOL.

(BTW) If I can ever locate the original of this image, I WILL take Michel's sage advice and crop it.)

Have you considered cropping it square ? Movinger her out of the center...more to the left ? And...getting rid of that black edge on the right...hehe....just a suggestion

Lin Haring replied:

I do appreciate your great suggestion, and hope to have a "version 2" ASAP. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes now I am hungry

Hey, Jeff, it's worth the drive ... from no matter where you start. ;-)
