Pine Grove, the artwork, invites the viewer to step into a world where the sky is big enough to see, and the action of the storm is overhead and majestic. Standing in the midst of country fields, the hiker closes his or her eyes as the wind of the storm sweeps by, catching one’s coat and whipping it in the breeze.
At one time, the fields and meadows of Pine Grove were a series of small, family homesteads, and in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many people settled in the area to grow wheat and create a life for themselves of independence from the city. But things changed in the 1930s, when the Great Depression drove many out, and after that, government policies favored those with capital and the financial means to buy up huge swathe...
I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 13 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
