Stunning mountain scene at shoreline of frozen lake. Parallel ribbons of dark cloud stretch across the blue sky. Enormous steep sided limestone mountains descend into the lake and a dark green evergreen forest climbs up its scree slopes. A few trees have managed to thrive on the rocky point that juts into the lake.

Wherever I go I am on alert for those fleeting moments when the world reveals a special image with that magical combination of atmosphere, texture, character, and purity, cleverly disguised and woven into the fabric of the every day. Sometime you only have a split second to capture it. Sometime … maybe once every 1,000 times … you get it just right and are able to record and preserve an exquisite visual memento that otherwise would have vanished, lost forever in the relentless motion of space, light, and time.
