Artist's Description

A look at the beautiful Emmett Valley during the Golden Hour, which is a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer compared to when the Sun is higher in the sky. I had a friend said the layers reminded him of pink cotton candy. Originally called "Emmettville," it was primarily a post office named after Emmett Cahalan, the son of Tom Cahalan, an early settler of the area. The post office was later moved but retained the name. A few years later the "ville" was dropped and the post office and town became simply Emmett. About Robert Bales

I am a retired teacher, coach and athletic director. While my wife, Judy, and I were teaching she had a photo studio, and I had a dark room where I did black and white and color. Some was for the studio while most of it was just a hobby. When we retired in 2000, we sold our house in Eastern Washington and moved onto our boat, Last Class, and our motorhome. Over our 50 years of marriage, we have always had an interest in photography and both of us enjoy taking the photos for this site. I am heading to Yuma for the winter so I will off line some of the time for 3...
