The day started out cloudy and drizzly but the weather report was calling for sunshine on Stewart Island (Rakiura), New Zealand. Despite skepticism about weather reports in general, we set off on a 15 km hike the timing of which was dictated by the tides. Luckily, by the half way point at Port William, the sun had finally come and the clouds and sky were spectacular.
