Description

During the War, PBY Catalinas were engaged in the Search & Rescue of drowned crews from sunken ships or crashed aircraft. If the Catalina could not land due to the high ocean swell, they dropped food and dinghies for the sailors/ pilots, giving some relief until the rescue ships, PT-Boat or Submarine would arrive to pick them up.
