Artist's Description
A vintage patent illustration depicts a ukulele or similar string instrument as designed by John Ying Git Lai, with attorney signatures at the bottom. The diagram, dated November 26, 1940, shows a front and side view of the instrument, detailing its structure and design elements such as the sound hole, neck, and strings. The patent number 123,698 is indicated at the top, along with the application date of July 17, 1939, giving a glimpse into the historical design process for musical instruments.
