Description
If you spend long enough in any city, you have the opportunity to get away from the highly trafficked tourist routes, and off the beaten path. On Christmas eve 2013, the gardens near the American Embassy in the Little Quarter (Mala Stratna) were quiet. In a lovely morning stroll, we were treated to the lovely long winter shadows and a wonderful view of both the Little Quarter, and the Old Town (Stare Mesto) in the distance. In the immediate foreground, the tower is part of the Church of our Lady Victorious, which is most famous for housing the statue known as the Infant of Prague. The Little Quarter is full of beautiful Baroque palaces and old houses with their wonderful signs. This area which was founded in 1257 is on the left (west) bank of the river Vltava, on the slopes just below the Prague Castle and is joined to the larger areas of Prague on the right(east) bank by the Charles Bridge.
