I was absolutely thrilled with my purchase....so many options in terms of size, framing and matting. And it arrived so quickly....I couldn’t be more pleased! I’ll send a photo once the wallpaper is up and the pictures hung.

Great service and beautiful results. Loved how easy it was to shop for the exact style and size of art we wanted, choose every aspect of framing, and get it delivered right to our door. I doubt this will be our last time ordering through Conde Nast :)

Artist's Description

Praying mantis (Family Mantidae) with its shed skin. The praying mantis is a carnivorous insect. It is known as a sit-and-wait predator, due to its method of remaining motionless and camouflaged until its prey is close enough to be caught. It then uses its powerful spiny front legs to grab and retain its prey. Praying mantises do not have a nymph stage. To grow they have to shed their skin (exoskeleton). They dangle off a leaf as the exoskeleton splits down the middle. In this stage they are vulnerable to predator attack, and for 3-6 hours afterwards their new skin will still not have hardened. They are found in tropical and warm temperate regions of the world.

About David Aubrey

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
