This series of three primary studies came to me as I was reminiscing about my time living in Europe, and the art I encountered there. One surprise was the colorful and organic work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist, with a colorful life story. He seems little known in the United States, but his art was to be seen everywhere in Germany. I loved the bright, primary abstract paintings on wall art, calendars, stamps, clothing, etc.
Hundertwasser's original and unruly artistic vision expressed itself in pictorial art, environmentalism, philosophy, and design of facades, postage stamps, flags, and clothing (among other areas). The common themes in his work utilised bright colours, organic forms, a reconciliation of humans with nature, and a strong individualism, rejecting straight lines.
