Oh, my, this is wonderful! Why doesn't my sharp-shin bathe in my bird bath? Does yours scare away all your songbirds? I haven't had to fill my feeders in a month. :( v/f
Sue Melvin replied:
I think this event was out of the norm, Betty! I believe it was a juvenile and it was really hot out, so it decided to cool off. It was something to watch as it splashed around just like the other smaller birds! And, yes, the hawks do scare off the other birds, but they don't seem to stay around long.

What an outstanding sight, Sue~ a hawk in a birdbath is very unique! The expression on it's face is priceless and it looks like it's been through a hurricane!! Love this one for sure, it's hilarious!!! F,V& SU!

Wow! Amazing capture. I have never spotted a Hawk at a birdbath. Looks like he is calling to let his mate know "There's water here!" :)

Sue--wow--this is wild! I do have a photo of one in a birdbath--but he is just standing there. Voted.

Wow, what an opportune capture of this hawk in the birdbath, as I have never seen this before. Takes up the whole bath, and it quite unique to see one in a birdbath. I most unique thing I have seen was on the golf course, when ready to put on a green, an American bald eagle landed about 50 feet from me, finished its snack or snake, I believe. Looked at me, and flew off! Wow, but I got a par on that hole, not an "eagle" , darn! lol This is one splendid and surprising capture, Sue. fave and vote and tweet and FB and g+1 on this unique piece!

Randy- thanks for your sweet comments and all those promotions!!! Wow!!! I had also never seen a hawk visit a birdbath! It took a bath just like any other bird, splashing up a storm. It first stood in the water for quite a while! Was something neat to see! Cute story about the eagle on the golf course! LOL
