This Painting I call “ Phantom Jockey” is near completion. I am in the process of applying the finishing touches. What a magical joy this process has been. He was created at the DMRT.. I only paint Portraits of Jockeys and persona silks upon request.
I did however have the pleasure of meeting Laffit Pincay who stopped by every day with positive input and even posed so I could get the hand at right angle. When he told me I truly captured the way he feels after a race I was thrilled!
This Painting is not about being the winner or the loser .. it’s about being all in and the toll it takes emotionally and physically to do the job well. I have so much respect for Jockeys.
The Painting has been done start to finish wth my palette knife only. I have a lot of heart in this one... going to be tough to let him go. As always however, I do believe the rightful owner will come along and love him.
