Was looking for a nautical theme print to go with our antique replica of "The Sea Witch". Capt. James Cook was one of the first to make navigational maps! Perfect pairing! We love the quality, the ease of order and the timeliness I which we received him! Thank you and will certainly place more orders......

Artist's Description

Queen bee with worker bees on a comb in a hive. The queen bee has been marked with a spot of paint (blue) to enable her to be identified. The colour enables the beekeeper to keep track of her age. Bees collect nectar from a wide range of flowering plants, bringing it back to their hive to store it and form honey. The honey is used as food by bee larva, and is also collected by beekeepers for human consumption. The most commonly domesticated bee is the common honey bee (Apis mellifera).

About Cordelia Molloy

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
