As I looked out over the backyard, a painting began to breathe. Yes, I know, it is in land locked Iowa, my home town, Spencer. No ocean. The backyard was serene, bursting with color, buzzing with bees and birds were tittering. Our main "garden muncher" had popped in for a visit. Beautiful, but no ocean. Tiny creatures could be seen everywhere, poking their heads out of their nearly hidden windows and doors, even as the clock on the garden wall tick-tocked. Enchanting, but no ocean. What is a Jersey girl to do? This one cannot live without the ocean, so with a few swirls of the paint brush we added Jersey sunshine, sprinkled a little seashore fairy dust, and there it was, the fabulous Atlantic Ocean complete with beach umbrella and sailing boats and funky fish. Ah, yes, now it looks like my home town, revisited. In my dreams. Welcome to my world. WATERCOLOR/MIXED MEDIA, framed. 40" x 30" $1200.
