As I sit on our sailboat Batwing, there are many things to see. One of which is a sailboat race. I imagined the storm coming in as boats were rounding a buoy, and this painting was created.
About Diane Binder
I discovered drawing as a young person of ten and took every art class available during my high school days, including a summer program at Cranbrook institute of Art in Michigan. I enjoyed portraiture and commissioned several jobs in high school before going off to Michigan State University where I studied art during my first year. Then after an almost 40 year hiatus, I discovered plein air painting in Taos NM after moving there in 2013. As I spend my winters in Mexico on our sailboat with my husband, I met and took a watercolor workshop with Ann Lockett in Conception Bay, and haven't put my brush down since. The stark beauty of both New Mexico and Baja California Sur provide me with endless subject material. I paint weekly with the...
