Description
Rattlesnake Falls
by Debra and Dave Vanderlaan
... This is a lovely hidden cascade
in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee...
In the Cherokee National Forest
on the edge of the Nantahala National
Forest, cascading fresh water forms
in a large pool below. The waterfall
is silky and cold, captured in late
autumn, fallen leaves glowing
with fall color, red and orange.
Green moss covers the granite rocks
on the falls and below while leaves
collect in the smaller cascades.
Rhododendrons grow around the falls
and bloom in the spring...
Find this jewel in the forest
along the mountain trail descending
from the Cherohala Skyway at the
Rattlesnake overlook and trailhead.
