Artist's Description
This is a close up of the raven from Raven Steals the Light. There are small graphic details inside of the raven explaining the tale. Raven decided to steal the light from the great chief, so he turned himself into a leaf and after a chief's daughter drank the water with the leaf he transformed himself into a baby. That plan was accomplished to get closer to the boxes with the stars, moon, and the sun which he finally retrieved to the sky.

Aliza’s art conveys deep respect for diverse cultures represented with symbolic iconography, creating her own artistic language that narrates stories of her life. Aliza describes her style as color embraced symbolism depicting life’s essence. Aliza Souleyeva-Alexander is a professional Canadian artist, originally from Kazakhstan. Aliza received her master’s degree in Art and Textiles from Kazakh State Academy of Art in 2000. Aliza’s work has been displayed widely over the last twelve years in solo and group shows.
