Description

The Green Heron is a small, stocky heron found in North and Central America. These striking looking birds sport a velvet green back, rich chestnut body, a dark, sometimes crested cap, slender yellow legs and a dark bill with a sharp point. The Green Heron is sometimes observed using tools such as insects, earthworms, twigs, feathers, etc. to lure in fish. They are one of the world's few species to use lures to bait their prey.
