Description
Do you see the path of light on this highly reflective table surface? My still life is a colorful nature arrangement of floral, fruit and vegetables paired with the modern 3D sculpture art seen rising above and the surreal reflections below. A lovely dolly made by my own hands, adds interest to the edges. This watercolor is also described with a strong colored black background and really makes all the colors pop.
REFLECTIONS IN COLOR: Received an award in 2012 Red River Watercolor Society 19th Annual Juried National Watermedia Exhibition by juror Donna Zagotta at the Hjemkomst Gallery, Moorhead, MN.and received an Award of Excellence in the Northern Showcase exhibition (MN) in November 2013 (and more)

I rarely use black! What a surprise to me that I did use it here! But the sun was shining brightly and the table surface had turned into long shadows of darkness. As I got closer to the finished painting, my images were glowing in light and color on the paper, but now the sun had already set and the darkness experienced behind the still life was an actuality. And it sure did set off this grouping!

The sun was just right - to let the table become a mirror and allow the reflections to show so nicely. The background - black - just covered up the rest of my kitchen behind the table.
