Remember The Time - The collection of photos represented here in this portfolio are my responses to various stimuli, both internal and external, that I have experienced growing up as a child. Coming from a deeply religious family, whenever a thunderstorm would brew up I remember my mother telling us kids that “God is doing his business outside” and she would make us settle down and be quiet until the storm passed over. From that experience I began to become fascinated by the power and the beauty of storms and how the rain washed everything clean at the end. The window photos are actual images that I took using a Minolta Maxuum camera and black and white film. Combined with the overlays of rain they represent the internalization of the emotions I felt as a child and the point of view I developed from seeing the light pass through the panes and create images of surrealism and shadows.
Remember The Time. This is a black and white photo that I took with a Pentax camera and later colorized and edited using Photo Shop. The light filtering in through the windows and across the still life's created the surrealistic looking shadows and effects. This is 1 in a series of 30 photo manipulated images that I have created for this series.
