Description
Ireland Rocks series by Lexa Harpell.
Changing seasons - as autumn arrives the brilliant greens of summer slowly fade.... the grasses turning gold, the purple flowering heather covers the hills and the deep browns of peat lands intensify as autumn arrives.
The deserted town of An Port in Country Donegal, is one of the remotest corners in Ireland.
It began as a fishing village on the Atlantic Ocean - yet during the Famine Years of 1845-52 everyone from the village left. Port laid dormant for over 100 years until 1966 when one brave family bought one of the derelict stone homes and made it their home.
There is only one small rough road to this remote place, yet worth the visit as the scenery is spectacular. Devoid of trees on this rocky landscape.
If you dare and the weather is clear, the remote hike along the majestic 1,000 ft cliffs and sea stacks to the nearby legendary Glenlough is big, raw and breathtaking.
